BULK TERMINALS 2020: SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES

Ian Adams CDir, FIoD, IEng, FIMarEST, Technical Advisor, Association of Bulk Terminal Operators

Ian Adams, Technical Advisor of the Association of Bulk Terminal Operators (ABTO) and Managing Director of marine consultancy IMA Marine Ltd – providing consultancy, acting as an expert witness, training, research and advice – Ian Adams has been involved in the shipping industry since 1985 in various capacities, with P&O Cruises, Deep Sea Seals and Hamworthy.

He was appointed Chief Executive of The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) in February 2009, after having been its Secretary-General for seven and a half years. During his time there Ian gained consultative status at IMO for IBIA. This resulted in him being involved in the process of the revision of MARPOL Annex VI. He was a member of the IMO Secretary General’s Scientific and Industry Expert Panel during 2007. He left IBIA in July 2011. With his wide experience, Ian is in demand to present at conferences around the world about emissions from ships and bulk terminal operations.

 

Professor Michael S A Bradley, BSc Hons, PhD,  Professor of Bulk and Particulate Technology, Director of The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology

Mike Bradley is Professor in Particle and Bulk Technology, Director of the Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology and Head of the Greenwich Manufacturing Group at the University of Greenwich.

Mike was awarded both his honours degree and PhD from Thames Polytechnic (now the University of Greenwich) and, as manager/director, provides technical leadership in all aspects of bulk solids handling. His particular areas of interest lie in pneumatic conveying, design of hoppers and silos, dust control, plant integration and maintenance of product quality.

Mike is Chairman of the Solids Handling and Processing Association (SHAPA), a member of Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) and of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Bulk Materials Handling Committee (IMechE) as well as being on the Members Advisory Panel of the Association of Bulk Terminal Operators (ABTO).  He was awarded a professorship in 2006 and the directorship in 2008.
